standing in the rain

There is a girl I know
Who smiles through her tears,
There is a girl I know
Who defeats most of her fears.
There is a girl I know
Who stands out in the rain
To wash away the sorrow,
And wash away her pain.
She stands up when she sings,
And doesn't hide away,
She can't stand to ignore her faults
And act like everything's okay.
She may cut herself in anger,
And may bleed for all her sins,
But she finds it easy to feel pain
And see blood seep from her skin.
But through all pain and suffering,
Through all blades used for pain,
She cleans the blood and hurt away
By standing in the rain.
