Deceiving Elf

My green eyes can see where pain hides;
Reaching out with a heart full of love,
I give love to mend life's painful strides.
Some have called me an elf who soars with doves.
I possess a childish grin with the blushing cheeks of a fairy;
sometimes my innocent visage mistakenly beguiles.
Attempting to uplift frowns to grins and bring them to clouds fantasically airy,
I sometimes entrance hearts with my fairy-like glance.
This mortal world is too realistic for a deceiving elf;
why would anyone even care for a stranger?
It is time I take off my fairy-dusted wings and put them of the shelf;
giving too much kindness can sometimes put a heart in danger.

I am not sure I completely understand this one. But know that I like it nevertheless and that last line really hit home as I can so relate to it.
Take care,
Tim
(who believes he has run into a deceiving elf a time or three) |
