My Camping Trip to Straddie

Contributed by LilDream on Sunday, 30th March 2003 @ 03:25:00 PM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

We got up early and drove to the barge
We sat there and waited a while
We boarded the barge and had a smooth trip
Over to Straddie isle

When we drove through the sand dunes and set up camp
My friend and I styled with make-up
We went swimming down at the beach
The water was so cold it made us wake-up!

The next day we went to the freshwater holes
Later on we played a game of Fish
It was beginning to get dark so I had a shower
Then it started to rain, Oh for the sun I did wish!

We found lots of pippies on the beach
And Dad let me drive the car
We swam and we ate and had an ice cream
What a great holiday so far!

The campfire was fun, we sang lots of songs
And cooked our dinner with damper
I hope we go back to Straddie next year
Because we love our camping!

Pippies look like oyster shells - they are closed up but when you open them they have a little squishy animal inside like an oyster. My Dad gets them on the beach to use for bait when he is fishing.

Damper is an Australian bread made on a campfire made with flour and water and it looks like a cake - we have butter and honey or jam on it.

Thank you from LilDream
