my body is a temple
and this temple lies in ruin
in the corner of the island that is me,
broken glass is on the table,
red wine has stained the carpet,
powder residue far as the eye can see.
Memories of a night forgotten
passed out on the floor,
there are blood stains on the carpet,
there is vomit on the door,
there are holes punched through the ceiling,
there’s a TV in the pool,
next to the desk lamps from the office
and the old wooden bar stool.
This temple’s full of substance,
and not the noble kind,
toxins course through blood lines
poisoning the mind
