Beneath the wings of night where secrets hide
he walks within another Asian dream
feeding on what festers deep inside
where enemies are seldom what they seem
The aging man reverts to ageless boy
traumatized by things his mind must see
using any means he can employ
to hold at bay the sheer insanity
Horror often wears a friendly face
slim-hipped girls who beckon with a smile
yet fearing their nortorious embrace
he snaps awake with urgent self-denial
Sweat-stained sheets accompany illusion
evidence that soldiers seldom sleep
merely shift realities to wander
pathways of the past where visions creep
Nuturing by day a hope of sharing
with someone else what only he can feel
he sacrifices love for understanding
and dreads what falling darkness might reveal

You have captured such emotion in this poem. It is well written, I also understand the content, in more ways than one.
Bless you!

Crikey. This is an eye-opener. The silent torture of a forgotten soldier. How could somebody like me ever understand?
