anguished
|
He had no pulse.
The one he was born with
Stopped working
Long ago.
He had no pulse
So time passed him by
Without warning or notice
Or beat
He had no pulse,
And he felt like his whole body would harden or
Clot
So he put his heart
Up against her head.
And pumped her through his blood vessels
Instead.
But he had no pulse--
She pulled away,
And his heart was broken,
Again.
He has no pulse,
But his heart is beating
Angrily against his chest
Because he’d rather die
Than live for himself
(And be heartless.)

This is absolutely superb! This in particular is a world class piece of writing:
'So he put his heart
Up against her head.
And pumped her through his blood vessels
Instead.'
