Loneliness (goes to bed alone)

She wears lingerie
alone, to bed
her hair smoothed back
with perfectly applied lipstick
She fingers her face in framed photographs
tracing youth, unable to abandon memories
Her hair smells of coconut
and fruit, falling over her shoulders
restless
Diamonds on her finger
so sadly small
tears captured, well worn
She doesn't touch his side of the bed
it is cold, her hands frightened
On days when he is gone
the walls seem to echo
the faintest beatings of her heart
She remembers his loving touch
but also his angry tones
the ones that made her cry
She studies her reflection
in the mirror
thinking how she resembles a flower bloomed,
soon to be wilted
dead beneath a lovers touch.

the words you put down
come back two-fold to the reader.
( as a good write does.)
(...lovely work !) |

You described everything really well and created a clear visual picture for the reader. Great!
