Princess with a crooked crown,
Your story men will mourn,
The heavy jewels weighed you down,
Until your skin was torn.
A perfect smile was kept in place,
For fickle lovers eyes,
But in your dreams you’d plead your case,
With venomous curling cries.
Not once would you complain your pain,
The pressure built within,
Til you could let it out again,
Through slices in your skin.
Princess with a crooked crown,
The kingdom would be yours,
So you could not show more than frown,
Unless behind closed doors.
Suitors queued up by your side,
With hopes too deep to save,
For each of them you had to hide,
Still digging your own grave.
Until you met the rugged man,
Whose heart was true for you,
If he can’t have you no-one can,
But still he would not do.
For father said he was too low,
His body was too poor,
He’s all you ever wanted so
You could not take much more.
You saw him every day below,
Even in pouring rain,
He would throw stones at your window,
Just to see you again,
You learnt to tell him all your fears,
You learnt to share you heart,
You gave up fighting ageless tears,
That’s when it fell apart.
Could not escape the nightmares still,
They told you of your fate,
A throne alone without him til
Your final living date,
You had to share you life with him,
The man who truly cares,
Someone else could have your place,
Your riches could be theirs.
You tossed and turned every night,
Hoping for a relief,
He saw your face, he saw you fright,
Though hidden underneath.
He made a plan to save you,
To break you from your cage,
Your father found the details,
Your father found his rage.
Your lover fell to mercy,
Your lover fell to death,
The princess lost her only hope,
The princess lost her head.
So to the cliffs, follow her feet.
And on the edge she screams,
“He was my saviour true and all
I can’t escape my dreams.”
A single step, A single leap.
A second’s all it took.
She led her life pummelled by hits,
And left with a right hook.
