Come Find Me

Contributed by CharminglyAwkward on Friday, 31st July 2009 @ 07:35:54 PM in AEST
Topic: abstract

if you aspire after me
i will be here ready to pounce
in an ultimate array of color and concinnity

if you need me
i will be open to conceive of you
in wild abundance as free will is against the sun

if you are not afraid
i will be here doe-eyed and gleaming
like an enchantress scheming to swallow

her prey.

Oh, I like this! I'll tell you where my mind goes when I read it...

You know how some say we all create God in our own image? I know this is not quite what you're getting at here, but it seems akin to the process in reverse--a kind of dark goddess willing herself into existence through the aspirations of her subjects.

Another concept of diety: that when human beings fail to believe in their gods, they eventually cease to exist. This is a double-edged statement: does it apply more to the humans, or to their gods? Who created whom, and whom is more dependent on the other? The implication is that even omnipotence is no match for the inherent power of belief.

If you are a dark goddess, does your true power stem from the ability to create, or from the opportunity to manipulate (and even prey upon) your subjects? I think you know where I'm headed with this. Admittedly, I've been recently influenced by a claymation short in which a group of children encounters Satan, and many such questions are addressed. It's from a 1985 film called "The Adventures of Mark Twain," in a segment entitled "The Mysterious Stranger." I highly recommend it to anyone fascinated by the relationship of man to divinity.

Eminent thanks for the night's best read, by far! Esoterically Yours, -Kris-
