On A Night Like This

Contributed by ronald on Saturday, 29th March 2003 @ 09:45:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Nostalgic

On a night like this,
The raging tempest,
The blinding lightnings,
The roaring thunders,
The gush of hissing winds,
The chill in the air,
The rustling of the trees,
The slamming of the doors,
The rattling of the windows,
Brings me back,
To the day,
Your soul took its flight...

I remember,
At the flash of that lightning,
At the chime of that thunder,
When you were banished into history,
In that tragedy,
That rudely,
Parted,
Our one heart,
As it called, for your life...

Now,
I am half a man here,
Missing the radiance of you,
The light in your eyes,
The touch of your grace,
The bliss in your kiss,
The flow of our passion,
The waves of your warmth,
That used to come,
Rushing,
Crashing,
To my only heart,
Whenever the burning chill,
Pierces,
Through my skin...

And as high as the sky,
As deep as the ocean,
As wide as the horizons,
My heart is crying out,
All day and all night,
For my only love...

And I guess,
Getting over you,
It is the hardest thing...
On a night like this...

That...was just beauiful.

Great use of imagery and description at the beginning of the poem.

It all just sings of grief and regret and the inability to move on....it's simply beautiful.
