The Iliad of your daily dreams
The hard hat plumed warriors
Of work wear,
Collide in monosyllabic warfare.
The clash of shadows
Bronze shields & greaves
Collide like open umberellas
On lilly white spindles of shins & knees.
The strong thighs of chairs
Strain under the weight of worry.
In the Iliad of your dreams
Achilles vunerable
Senseless all over
Bestriding battlefields
Of porcelin & bitumin & plastic,
The chariot rolls
Across the day,
And you strong armed one
Get away - scathed.
