Lifepoems

I ascend the spiral stair case and spot a trunk of childhood toys;
I look through each object and feel an empty void.
I used to see magic everywhere I went;
now life is all about work and paying the rent.
I was a little girl living in a land of make-believe;
now the the magical realm in my mind grieves.
I used to have an imaginary friend;
the magical fun would never end.
I used to dream the most fantastical dreams;
now bland reality makes me want to scream.
I wish my Fairy God Mother with cast a spell on me;
I guess grow up brings forth make-believe's mortality.
Make-believe might have a short life span;
but I still can occasionally visit its land.

I like the rime and metric schema almost perfect, simple and charmed. It reminds me an old John Lennon quote: "the dream is over".
The poem can be as an end of metaphysics world created by "methapored" words and magic visions, or the end of justice and good men's beliefs sense (just they by the facts) by any rational man in this world.
Congratulations,
Leandro Monteiro. |
