End of Winter

The sunny days have departed
as raw evenings begin to arrive.
The first real flirtations with winter
lets us know she is alive.
A hard rain the night before
tearing leaves away from their lovers.
Now the trees are underdressed
without their spouse they have no cover.
The bone-chilling air
rapes the flowers in the field.
They are suffocated by a thick sheet
yet winter never seems to yeild.
The first sign of snow
leaves us reeling with a sense of peace.
But it soon turns into agony
when the snow continues, unable to cease.
There is a threat ready to strike
lurking beneath a cloudy vase,
with a deceiving diamond-like appearance
but strength enough to freeze us in place.
A breath of fresh air is upon us,
with the promise to reunite the lover and leaves.
Spring is resurrecting the beauty in life,
bringing winter to its knees.

This is great writing. Some marvellous metaphors graced by an angelic fluency. Superb.

Seasons come and seasons go, you've captured the moment like a beautiful photo, worthy of a thousand words and gracefully so. a brilliant interpretation-Morgues |
