TIE A YELLOW RIBBON

Contributed by annie on Saturday, 29th March 2003 @ 05:05:00 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Today we tied a yellow ribbon around our old oak tree,
As a symbol of our love for America this most great country,
And we pray for out troops fighting across the sea,
To watch the war being fought brings back many memories.

I have written in many of my other poems,
About my Dad dying and how our family mourned,
So young was he as off to the war he went,
Many years ago this happened, a most tragic event.

But my family's pain healed with time,
Just as when others die, but then he was mine,
His baby girl that walked in each of his foot steps,
For these young men now fighting,to worry I can't help.

God takes us on the time table in heaven that he set,
That means that death could come to each we just haven't met,
It will take each and every one at some time and point,
To heaven I will go for my soul he will anoint.

Pray for our Nation as the war rages on,
All is in Gods hands and He is on His throne,
Go tie a yellow ribbon today around your old oak tree
As a message to the world that here in America, we the people are free.

...........GOD BLESS AMERICA...........
