Vain Living=Eternal Loneliness

Contributed by PlainBittersweet on Wednesday, 22nd July 2009 @ 04:03:49 PM in AEST
Topic: PoemsonBeauty

She grew up with the world sitting at her perfect feet
Which walked on pristine floors and everyone she encountered
She grew up with riches at her delicate, manicured fingertips
Which touched fine china and pointed blame away from herself

She lived in the most lavish mansion, filled with envious belongings
Which she pranced under the noses of Lords, Kings and Queens
She lived in a flawless world all her own void of sadness and tears
Which she witnessed from her servants, but her heart was never altered

She spent her time gazing and strutting in front of her "Glass of Beauty"
Which she hung in every corner of her existence and demanded they be spotless
She spent her time grooming herself for no audience, just for her reflection
Which she admired and cooed at and prayed never would change

She felt over time her body and face change but in vain she ignored the signs
Which in the back of her mind tortured her perfect little head
She felt over time her once praising audience of one cease to clap when she walked by
Which in the back of her mind drove her pretty little head insane

She grew old alone and melancholy in her lavish mansion with pristine floors
Which was no longer the envy of the world for the tile was cracked beyond repair
She grew weary to walk about on her perfect feet and her delicate hands turned rough
Which was no longer good enough to touch fine china or boss her servants

She died with no one there to mourn the lack of her beautiful existence
Which in life she believed was the best gift the human race was given
She died with no one there to throw flowers at her grave or shed a tear
Which in life she believed tears would spoil her superlative features

Her tombstone can be found within every corner of her now condemned quarters
For her soul rest eternally lonely in her "Glass of Beauty"

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
