Hole In The Ground

Get outta the house,
Walk in the city,
Listen to sounds
Talk to your "friends"
But nobody wants you around.

So you get a bag from someone who barely knows you.
You pay them the money you've saved,
And you take it to your little hole in the ground,
'Cause you know nobody wants you around.

The little whispers in your head
That have haunted you for years.
Are nattering away, what'll happen if you're found.
But it doesn't matter, no-one will look.
'Cause you know nobody wants you around.

You march on quickly, blocking these thoughts
Blocking the chattering, your mother's screams.
The shrink you never had breaking you down,
You shake your head. No-one wants you around.

You reach your little place,
Not big enough for teen groups.
Too far for lazy ***** to look.
Forgotten but familiar.
You sit yourself down.

You stare at the dirt around you
Is this what you're reduced to?
You take out your paper and stuff,
Fill up the skin, and burn one end.
Your world goes foggy.
For once,
You forget.

Hours later you come round.
You've never been so tired
You look around,
You're in that hole in the ground,
The one that you had found,
Knowing no-one wanted you around.

And the people you loved and admire
They don't even look up as you catch their eye.
Where did your life go?
Just some hole in the ground.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
