A heart of steel
A body of iron
Is this what you see?
Well, an iron maiden maybe so
Life has given me little reason to be otherwise
I have suffered unsurmountable pain
I have cried rivers in the rain
My heart has been wrung almost dry
I have no tears left to cry
I am numb to the pain
I have been put to the test
I came out on the other side better than the best
My heart was melted by the love of another
He is like no other
The iron maiden is there for others to see
He is the only one close enough to see the tender side of me
Our love is strong and tested to be true
What's wrong?
Are you jealous it isn't you?
A heart of steel
A body of iron
Is this what you see?
The iron maiden for you I will be.

This is a wonderful poem. I also have members of my family that think they have me all figured out. When they really couldn't be more wrong. One of my cousin said that I have a heart of ice, because when ever some thing horible happens I never show any emotion.. When what it really is with me is that I do not like to show my emotions to every body. If I am going to cry I would much rather do it alone. I really have a very tender heart I just choose not to let others see it, because with one of my ex boyfriend when every I would cry he would call me weak and hit me. So I learned not to show my emotions to any body. I really do have to work on being able to show my emotions better, but I know that it will take some time. Once again this is a wonderful poem I enjoyed reading it.

Dear PhantomsLDY, I call it survival. I've had a relative that I believe exaggerated her emo-tions to appear loving. That same person also belittled me as being too touchy when my feelings were hurt and I'd cry. She was a 'crazy-maker.' Sometimes she would say that I must have PMS and hormones were making me over-react! EEEEEK! I learned to get hard and nasty in front of her. Then, I was 'hard' and unfeeling, she said. With some people, you don't win. Friend Bizzy |

I am sorry to know that someone made you hide your emotions like that and hopefully someone will come along that will make you feel safe enough to show them again. |
