Young woman texting behind the wheel
explanation a paradox to logic
Benign clouds meander above
unchanged by the panic, the impact
Middle aged man heavy with history
time; the relentless current
Sprawling ancient lands rich in triumph
survival; meaning without definition
Middle aged woman holding “hands-free”
unable to drive without conversation
Seasons turn the kaleidoscope without compassion
ever aging the black and red sign posts
Young man removes his position
erasing what defined his name
The flock of seagulls float on warm air
no remorse held for the fallen
Isolation and horrible clarity
passion without lust, without hope
love merely artistic fiction
this is my baptism
Young woman sure of her vision
focal range a foot deep
Middle aged man bogged in retrospect
difference would only grant different regret
Middle aged woman on her soapbox
megaphones provide no larger range of love
Young man broken by the heartless
too quick to sidestep the current
All names lose their definition
benign objects keep form and vigour
love merely mocks the endless
this is my baptism.
