Room With A View

Contributed by juliette on Saturday, 29th March 2003 @ 09:35:00 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

The very air in this room
Leaves a sour taste on my tongue
Reminds me of yesterdays
All that can never be undone.
Memories burned into my soul
They will never leave my life
My only constants from those wasted years
When I wasn’t allowed to cry.
I never told anybody how much it hurt
When I was shunned because of who she was
You would think time would carry me through
But the truth is it seldom does.

This room has a magnificent view,
Walks me through all the hell you put me through
The hateful names you called me, bruises pressed upon me
When she walked out on me, and left me there with you.
I can see the darkest places so plainly from here
Hear two voices screaming loud and clear
I once believed I would never break free
And I would always live my life in fear
Of this room, this room with a view.

I was fifteen years old
Before I’d taken all that I could stand
I remember standing in this very spot
With the blade held tightly in my hands.
I tried over and over to just run away
But they always brought me back
Scolding me like a troubled child
Rebelling over something I couldn’t have.
But you and I know it wasn’t so simple as that
You thought I was to weak to win
You apologized today
But tomorrow you’d hit me again.

And now this room holds such a terrifying view
Walks me through the hell you put me through
The hateful names you called me, bruises pressed upon me
The desperate things I had to do to get away from you.
I can see the darkest places so plainly from here
Hear two voices screaming loud and clear
I once believed I would never break free
And I would always live my life in fear
Of this room, this room with a view.

This poem is truly sad and it has a lot of emotions running through it. I hope you'll get over with your sadness in no time. Anyway, good poem. Keep it up pal!
