The Ladies of Pie town

Contributed by Spike on Tuesday, 7th July 2009 @ 05:50:18 AM in AEST
Topic: SongLyrics

A few miles from Quemado
where lonesome zephyrs stream
I chanced upon a tiny town
built upon a dream

A simple shopfront, shutters closed
selling homemade pies
a dog on the rustic porch
the buzz of lazy flies

I was on my way to visit friends
‘tween the Zuni and Ramah town
I thought a pie might cheer ‘em up
as a virus struck ‘em down

I knocked three times, no answer
then a local, with a grin
said he’d check if the ladies were sell’n
and if they’d let me in

Well, they must have looked me over
and saw no malice in my eyes
‘cause soon I was at the counter, saying
G’day ladies, where’s the pies

And the patrons sing:

Pie town ladies sing their songs,
Ooh - ahh, ooh - aah
Pie town ladies feed the throngs
All the do-dah day

Apple tarts and peach surprise
I could not believe my eyes
berries in a heavenly crust
cobbler that’s fit to bust!
served to me with joy de vie
by the Queen herself of Pie town

I survived the girls of Pie town
like sirens of the rocks
read my poems and ate my fill
then bolted from the blocks

But I knew one day that I’d come back
just like I said I would
it’s a long way from anywhere, but
those pies are just too good

And the patrons sing:

Pie town ladies sing their songs,
Ooh - ahh, ooh - aah
Pie town ladies feed the throngs
All - the - do -dah - day.

this really is sweet as pie. . . (reminds me of my boys' nicknames; sweet-pie, smooth-pie & tye-pie.) I love me some pies! :) elle
