The Memory Remains

Engraved are lines and signs
reciting ordeals and novels of time,
reviving apologues that forever last,
as faded glories in an hour glass.
But as Time contends against the Mind
and rushes faster than It can pace,
we dwindle down, with traces left behind,
the soul regresses into unfathomable space.
Upon the gallows we are judged;
as Guilt enforces the rule of ethics
condemning the soul to perpetual solitary
to tarnish in dungeons as antique relics.
Yet a hope survives this blasphemy,
a frail follicle of light breaking free
unwinding lost hopes; dreams not meant to be
and serving as a cure to feeble memories
