How to make a happy poem

Contributed by norm on Saturday, 29th March 2003 @ 01:05:00 AM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

I'd like to write a book of poems
and place it in a crystal dome
for you to use when you are blue;
to bouy you up and see you thru.

I think about how it be done
for you and I to have some fun
Put a line we'll call the first
comprised of sour kraut and wurst.

I'm the next to add a thought
of wonderous love which can't be bought
and on and on we'll add some lines
like sweetened grapes upon the vines.

Each addition to our verse
will be banks from which disburse
some joy and sun and things that shine
like sleet and rain and nature's wine.

When my turn, I'll surely add
a weary river which is sad
but ne'er-the-less will bring a lift
just like a sieve we use to sift.
A pretty girl within a shift.
A cat and dog within a rift.
The beauty of a high snow drift.
Anticipation of a gift.

The point is..with diversity
it's hard for someone not to see
great gladness..when e'er they look
upon the poems that make my book.

No5 of 10 (Carrying straight on for once.......)

Can I join in your merry sum
and help fill your compendium
with juicy morsels we will blend
our treat for everyone my friend
oh what joy...Let laughter ring!
