Love and Fear

It was valenties day,
Love filled the air.
Fear filled my heart.
Everyone was so happy,
They dressed up for the party,
And they danced like they were
having the time of their lives.
Love filled the air

I watched the boys hand out cards,
Confessing their affections for those they admired.
I sat in silence, as no boy came up to me
Even when they saw me,
They asked the girl behind me to dance.
Every girl had a rose, a gift of memory
Love filled the air

I am used to heartbreaks,
Every party is a fear for me
It was like i was invisible.
When the party was over,
The bullies made me clean up the hall.
Pieces of my heart scattered as
i went back to my hostel.

I went straight to bed,
with heart burn hidden tears.
everyone else was happy,
They spoke about how they danced with
their dream boy all night long.
I watched girls smell their rose like it was heaven.
That is the past, but it still haunts me in the future.

For the first time, i fell in love.
Some one finally something special in me.
I didnt know how to respond,
I was so happy.
I was too innocent, i didnt know what he wanted in me
Soon after, i felt he didnt love me.
He never told me he loved me, but i thought he did.
Yet,
I know the smell of a rose,
but not the symbol of its love.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
