Black Forest Dreamscape

Contributed by scott on Monday, 29th June 2009 @ 08:33:22 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

I once dreamt beyond our mortal veil
Across a dark and acrid sea set sail
I forged no path and left no trail
For no return was planned

My skin drank deep a lover's dread
Her lips were soft, her heart was dead
A black rose crown upon her head
When she let me fall I ran

I came back, the devil knows why
Beneath the crimson quickening sky
Brow to brow, we'd lay and lie
Sweet nothings for sweet sinners

In a grove gnarled deep with twisted vine
The hatred in our hearts entwined
I gave hers back and she crushed mine
A bitter end to love-drunk winters

In the pure white canvas of the mind
The painters paint for all the blind
New scenes new fears for what you'll find
But what else can one do?

I roused up from my dreaming state
Yearning wishing far too late
For the comfort of that distant place
Where I decide what's true

Oh, but for a fog of thought so dense!
So back to the wood I'll hurry hence
In the dark at least the world makes sense
In the dreamscape that I drew

An amazing write. I kind of reminds me of Keats. I love the darkness of this piece. You paint a vivid picture with your powerful language used. I will have to read more of your writing. Again great job.
