Lithe Leaves

In summer ilk, splendiferous
Conifers flutter
For the sky's goliath portrait,
Wondering when the lightning will
Still
Its picture of the evergreens
In willful assimilation
Of the long-potent gnomes
Among fresh lithe leaves
They aspire
To envy from unprivileged heights. They
Would see the snow in errant clouds,
Would give to be diminutive and
Complacently drop a
Fruit
Upon the steppe
Of exoteric antlers;
Occasionally proffers
An altercation under the points of snow.
