GONE WITHOUT A FUSS

Contributed by Scribbles on Saturday, 27th June 2009 @ 01:09:30 AM in AEST
Topic: anguished

Soft, sat upon a mossy stone
The linnet sets her stare
On me and my young lover
Who fondly passion there.
Upon the lush green carpet
That nature gave to us
We glance back at the linnet
Who's gone without a fuss.

Alone again we lie beneath
An overhanging bough
Again we feel a stranger's eye,
A field mouse joins us now
To understand us, hard he tries
And ventures ever near
As if to touch us would explain
Why he should feel no fear.

Then off he runs and leaves us
With the babbling of the brook
And up we sit, to fix ourselves
And take a proper look
At all the things around us
That no one ever sees
The dragon flies, the water birds,
The hedgerows and the trees.

It seems it's only times like these
That bring the message home
We must stop now and think about
The damage we have done
For once the world was filled with all
This beauty here to see
But ever shrinking is this world
Through mans necessity!

And what necessity do we mean,
Of what needs do we speak?
Surely there's a reason
For the havoc that we wreak.
We ought to set a limit
As to just how far we go
For. of we don't, these wonders
Our young will never know.

Great message you have placed here. Too many people are forgetting about oreserving the beauty of nature for reasons that will seem so trivial once it is too late to get it all back.

Just because we can, doesn't mean that we have a right to. I liked this, in particular the first three stanzas, but for me, I didn't get much of an impact form the resolution, which you seem to have intended.
