Baby Not So Desired
Warm summer moonlight drenched her youthful face
on that night, knowing by heart a blessing she is
clutching in her fragile womb, waiting for her beloved
- to pronoun to him the tiding that was bubbling in her heart.
Jumping delighted nerves, smiling within,
leaping happy heart, she sang, she danced,
whispering to herself the words to utter to the beloved,
yet waiting for him to come.
Night passed at its own promptness, she slept
with a smile on her face, hands held gently over her swollen belly,
endeavoring to feel the moving foetus from within;
yet waiting for him to come.
Dawn rose, and a knock on the door blared,
She ran to entertain a drunken stinking beast
Beloved though he was; she murmured to him the
new arrival; he hurled her to the floor and bawled
“No baby in this house”
Her ears went numb, heart broken, holding on to his leg
pleading for her unborn tot with blood and tears rolling down
her cheek - beast within so provoked he brutally struck her
time and again to prove his manhood; blank she fell on the floor
with disbelief.
A mother in her woke up to the occasion, held on to her emotions;
“This is my baby” she said “She has the right as much as me or you,
to breath, to sing and to dance, live and to flourish,
she is only mine, without you my life shall just be fine”
Seasons gone by; she stood watching her baby with trophies of triumphs
to follow, baby not so desired yesterday; world yearns for her today.

Benedetto,
This poem made me cry, so well written understanding comes with your words of deep emotion...You captured well the mother, her joy and happiness and the expectation of telling her Beloved. I am drawn into the poem to a place and a time familiar to me. Stanza five and six is my story I lived that. This poem is very powerful and yet again you pierce the heart...You are Gifted from Our Lord!
Potente, magnifico, eccellente… il mio Poem favorito!

Sometimes "drunken stinking beast" doesn't seem enough to describe a monster like that but alas, words are all we have I suppose.
This made me want to cry but more so, things like that make me angry. You tackled the subject again with your great talent.
If I am understanding the last lines correctly, at least it came out with a happy ending because the mother protcted her child.
Thank you for an impeccable read.
