I wish I could be left alone
To sit here by myself
To think and dream and wonder
If I'd rather be and elf.
Or demon King or highwayman,
A pirate brave and bold,
A cowboy or an astronaut,
A knight from days of old.
Or what about a unicorn
With flowing golden mane,
Or Charlie Chaplin's bowler hat
His jacket or his cane.
Or maybe just an apple pie
Or something just as sweet,
And on a Sunday afternoon
I'd give you all a treat.
But only if you go away
And leave my by myself,
To sit and dream and wonder
If I'd rather be and elf......
