WHEN YOU LEFT

When you passed
I was lost.
I was only nine years old
Left to face the world alone.
I wondered what I did wrong for you to leave me.
Now I know you are at peace and not in pain no more.
My life spiraled out of control.
No one wanted me any more.
I was a problem.
Or a toy for them to use and abuse.
Now I am twenty six years old.
I have a family of my own.
I wish you were here to see them.
Mamaw you were my blanket though the storms.
I just wanted to let you know you taught me to love my children.
And how to stand on my own.
When you left
I cried all the time.
Until I came to a peace
knowing that you will always be in my heart.
