Part One: Connections Unplugged
to feel so disconnected from this world
happiness is only their time to shine
everyone seems to live so connected
as satellites transmit their thoughts
welcoming like their positive attitudes
rather distant and incoherent to me
their world blissful and unfamiliar
as my veins shoot outwards
wrapping around corners
without making contact
trying to find my heart
falling apart is my hope
unsure of where to stand
global positioning system
please locate me
Part Two: Locomotion
going through this tunnel
the high beams full blown
my glimmer of optimism faded
reflected from their smiles so perfect
canceling out those so fake as mine
feels like low kicks across my spine
broken like my relationships
my reign comes crashing down
strapped to the tracks cigarette pressed in mouth
choo-choo, do you hear the train coming?
chuga, chuga, chuga, chuga
choo-choo, do you hear the wheels grinding?
chuga, chuga, chuga, chuga (onomatopoeia in action, wow!)
on this trestle that bridges life and death
there is no escape from the failure that is my life
snap! neural receptors firing rapidly
epinephrine, dopamine, adrenaline
speeding up my random thoughts
although my muscles have been slowing down
for some time now disillusioned
frozen by negative thoughts and anxiety
running over my darkened heart
estranged from the right track
yet laying upon it as the train crosses
as they drive by in their s-classes
the world has passed me by
Part Three: Communication
however many miles per hour
always under the speed limit
and going no where real fast
everyone has been talking
and nobody ever listens
the telephone rings the same
as it always has; angrily
and most likely always will
cast these digits into the inferno
forget my name, forget this number
dial 9-1-1 because the trains coming back...
to finish the job it started so long ago
polarized glass -reflection-
bright lights; its all too bright
the brake lines failing
and the church’s bells sound
in twos and fours...
in twos and fours...
Part Four: Fade Away
in twos and fours...
hours pass, hours tick
and the clock is facing west
the cardinal direction of sin
and we are all out of time
my lifeline has been severed
by white lines like sidewalk chalk
drawing the outline of my body
surrounded by onlookers just passing by
this is the requiem of interference...
this is the cold static netherworld....
my line has been cut and this is the outside
don't lock the door after me please!
no more bars, the signal is lost
the signal has died and...
I've been disconnected...
