My library book
I remember the first time,
when all was wonderful, and the sun shone even when it rained.
When you came in to my life,
like a crystal shining bright.
Then do you remember the way you did it,
requested again by another,
you slipped away with out a reason,
no explanation, no story to explain.
The story ended,
Oh to soon.
It took three days for you to return,
with your cover all tatty and sad,
I should of left the library then!
As books always return
to their rightful place, on that shelf in the
library.
You said you were back, I was all you needed,
I believed that, this book was mine at last,
for years I read this book,
cover to cover,
every word, every joke, every sentence
could be predicted.
Till that day when the New Year came in,
the start of new things,
new books, and letting go of the old books.
You came, and said it was time,
time for my raggy, well loved old book,
well read with well thumbed pages,
ready to got back to the dusty shelf in the library.
You are and will always be,
my favourite and most loved book,
not to be replaced,
for some books are hard to follow,
My once borrowed book, once read but never
forgotten...

| A great poem about someone's love for a library book, and how it can be lost, or taken away, as I note comparable to a friend or other. Very nice. |

I love this poem. It is amazing how strong the bond can be between a book and its reader. Nicely written!
