Belief

Like a jar of confection that now holds poison,
Shape-shifting mirrors instill damned air with raised fists.
Belief's image tarnished at night,
remnants of rampant exhortations, limiting gaze
sour with edge-wise knowledge.
Gambling on the boards as Cross, weavils and louse,
scribbage carved like cuneiform curses.
Ah, valiant savant! cupped hands caress ablutions
damned to dine at the equinox equation.
Stolen tome of mystical has-beens, wrangling
with the stallion of pallid disillusionment.
Bubonic baggage, tonnes of tomfoolery, tumults
and tenuous temperate tracings of
atonement.
Haggard God-head, grazing beast of aloof meaning,
graceful and gallant, likened to the heart's contented season.
Do you not wonder, oh edifice denied?
Casting enchanted looks past the horizons of similitude?
Standing upright, lengthening the knotted roots of draining ardour,
breezes, alight fauna, bounding animals flutter like Eden's incarcerated moths.
Just jailor, warming to the warden, alacrity of wit, recourse through the poet's farsightendness.
Myopic glare, crazed believer's gasp crushed, managerie of gibing gibbons,
steely blood-letting keeper, enraptured tacit onlooker, encroach not on this territory of certainty!
Wrapped in chains dredged unto satisfaction's near torture, rack of guilty jesters, gullibility,
longing for locked latch of the absolute.
Don't joke, oh passionate preacher!
Sullen sacristy erred impolitely, many lost causes drift upon drafts, the deacon's fireplace enriched
if not for a short time with the enlightened airs of illumination!
Villager and villain be accosted, stilted reasoning's glowing embers of satiety, pass on the glittering
cold of science and logic.
Away with avid docility, be gone the hermetic crisis of the holy!
The reign of the Right stave of stalwart silliness and dull depravity of the dawn.
Silence rule us!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
