Wishing Well

Contributed by lesoleilnoire on Sunday, 14th June 2009 @ 07:54:39 PM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

I recline beneath a shady pine and ponder about the wishing well that was once here.
Slowly as I reminisce, a summer slumber overwhelms me and invites me to the land of dreams.
The blissful vision shows me in my childhood gown frolicking and running to the well that is near.
I throw a coin in the well and make a wish and am confident it will happen due to this relic i so highly esteem.
I go to sleep that night and wonder when my wish will come true.
I awaken and decide to go to my orchard.
The apple blossoms perfume my senses as I follow their white-blossomed hue;
I find a cavern of branches and escape into my flowery mansion that I can afford.
Under this canopy of blossoms, I begin to search for a four-leaf clover.
The hunt seems long, but magically after an hour, I find one!
I knew my wish would come true because that well never makes my dreams fall over.
I hold the lucky four-leaf clover in my hand and realize I owe that well a ton.
I awaken with a smile on my face as I sit under the pine that replaced the well;
I open my childhood diary and find my pressed four-leaf clover.
The well may be gone, but nothing can take away the memories that haunt me like a spell;
Wishes will continue to come true as long as hope and faith are never over.
