Our Nessus

Double-dipped chocolate chunk arrow,
our Nessus for your Highness, goodness gracious--
make it gratis--turn over adulterated potions.
Even as you freely dole, we will not be made
loyal patrons down the line
as the blood roils the Centaur's eye--far from it,
as he consigns his magic to gratuitous buyers.
Promiscuity: Our caprices alight upon
accent marks, unbecoming spaces, foreign-
sounding cumin, sassafras. Nessus
made us treacherous,
the only stake of customer there is.

Strange and abstract but interesting and captivating somehow. |
