Far Short of a Croon

The quasi-duck might have invoked your name,
Above the dewlap that could flap in static portals,
Underneath even nasal tincture of his crow, which,
Hooded by a palate acrid, spread forth its alien amity
Only to taper off into some layered utterance far short
Of a croon. The quasi-duck might have professed his love
For the pining traffic on your road and your swift stopping at signs,
Might have blossomed to your biotic fluffed pillow at night, and that
Quasi-duck might have been a duck (had you never run him over with
Your tire and seen he was always just a rooster with a penchant for quagmire).
