your memory dwells

Contributed by elle on Thursday, 11th June 2009 @ 07:37:09 PM in AEST
Topic: DreamsandWishes

I stand rapt
upon this mountain-side
too difficult
not to cry
& surrender
I must. . . I will. . .

your memory escapes
as I stare into the horizon
which holds the brilliance
of your smile. . .
as I fade into the night sky
& the glitter
of your sparkling eyes. . .

help me
as I gasp
for fresher air
the past is stale & cold. . .

I am reciting
something. . .
. . . beautiful. . . as I try so not to wake
. . . I try so not to wake
dreaming. . .
mountain-side, dew-kissed
steeped in greener grass. . .

. . . your memory dwells

your memory dwells. . .

You have sooooooo captured that feeling, I am sure we can all relate to, of waking up and not wanting to forget the dream... an awesome dream...and only being able to remember small bits. I love pomes about dreams and I definitely love this poem!

*applauds with a standing ovation*

As someone who never dreams (well I probably do but have never remembered one in over 20 years) it's nice to share the dreams of others
Thanks for sharing

Steve

This is just so hauntingly reverent. I always
feel like sighing after I read any of your
work, Elle....like each piece is a fresh
breath, and this one is no different.
Why is it that the dreams we don't want
to remember stay with us, and the ones
that we do want to stay, slip through
our fingers the harder we fight to hold
them near? *sigh* Needless to say, I
loved this one. It mesmerized me.
May you dream sweetly, my friend.

Be well,
~dawn

Again this hit me deeply... Dreams can be beautiful when they give you a moment like this -the touch of deep connection. I wrote a poem a long time ago called "In Our Solitude" which was based on a dream also - in that one, it was about having a private place free from the rest of the world..
I'm worried that the feeling I felt at that time is something I'll never experience in life...
Another very good write Elle.
All the best
Tim

Now it's that I don't want to wake up from the dream.

Note to self: Learn how to spell poem. Smile!
