I still recall the warmth
Sunlight on my eyes
Waking up to see you there
The comfort by my side
Zero crying at your door
I rise to let him out
Head out back to have a smoke
I’m noticing the couch
Pillows lay across the floor
The sheets are all askew
Cloths ripped up, torn apart,
Flung around the room
On the table, cups still sweat
Half way full or more
Roses and your favorite sweets
To show you are adored
Envisioning our conversation
The high we shared that night
You told me of your destination
Why did I not fight?
Knowing what I have to do
I gather all my things
Your coffee in the microwave
Dishes are all clean
Erasing all the evidence
Of our St. Valentine’s Day
Wishing you would just wake up
Give reason and I'll stay
I write a note to show I care
I pick out the fullest rose
Place them on your night stand
Briefly watch you doze
Steal another final kiss
Sleeping beauty lips
Hoping for another chance
To feel this kind of bliss
Tear drop walking out your door
I’m doing this for you
Want to stay but have to go
Feeling royal blue

I love how this poem encompassed so many emotions...joy, caring, sadness and then some longing... Well done..
