Half Broken

What are we?
Just remnants of what we used to be,
Both broken halves that can't be whole,
and while mine is lost inside our lives,
yours is mourning with your soul.
For dreams that came,
we left behind,
for those who came behind to find,
the sea shells spoke with silent song,
and watched the waves as they came on,
they spoke of end,
and did not know,
that tides withdraw,
and mornings glow
and in the morning they'd still see
the sea recede
and there they'd be
just resting down upon the sand
with dreams intact
and hope to hand.
But still next morning, clouds collide,
The waves came,
and we tried to hide,
for though we knew the waters touch,
we could not grow to trust that much
we feared the waves that touched the sky,
and grew afraid to face the light.
Until the night we hid away,
for fears that we would die that day.
but on the dawn we still were found,
our shells, both crushed into the ground,
not under cover of the night,
but bathed in unrelenting light
left with a broken half of each,
we lay there, dying on the beach.

Sister mine.... you are far more brave
than you give yourself credit for being.
This is a hauntingly beautiful piece that
flows just like the ebb of the tide within it.
May peace be with and within you, Philly.
Love,
~d

Sometimes I read and I smile
Sometimes I read and I gasp.........at how powerfully images are portrayed in words
This was certainly a jaw dropping piece
Thanks for sharing the thoughts within

It's a shame to see you posting less, yet each time you do, you seem to outdo your last.
I love the rhyme in this!
The piece itself shows such sadness, yet such maturity.
Bless you lil sis. |

I am ***** that someone had the audacity to give this poem anything less than a five. Honestly.
This is incredible. I love it when I get to read poems about the sea. Normally, when I write about it, it's raging, or it's sad, but never really calm. And you've captured my element at that moment. This is a masterpiece, Phil. It's freaking awesome. Honestly, I love it. You flow so well here. Which is why I'm ***** at that person who only voted a four.
Take care, you.
