Am I destined to be what I am?
Wish I could pupate, turn into something beautiful
And not this snivelling prat who I seem to be
I see the future it hurts me so much
Like a thousand Hiroshima’s in my head
The aching never subsiding, never going away
Here eternally, here to stay
Am I destined to be what I am?
Wish I could evaporate, disappear, not exist
Remove all trace of me from all your minds
Maybe the world would be a slightly nicer place
With out me you’ll be happier, live a better life
My misery never destroying, never going away
Here ever more, here to stay
Am I destined to always lose out?
Wish I could be a clone of somebody else
And then I can too laugh and mock at my other self
I laugh at the mirror, and its mournful portrait
One picture that wont grace any art show
Feeling like a disaster zone, a walking hand grenade
Just pull out the pin, my futures already made

this is one of my favourites on the site - really strong emotion and the theme of fate and destiny is portrayed effectively. i like the imagery you use - particularly the grenade. great poem, trust me - the world would not be a better place without you, keep writing. Love the website by the way. Kate x |
