The light we cannot find

We are always alone, you and I, where the rain walks alone, and we are glass and stone unhindered by the wings above, unfolding fingers to meet at broken intervals of love and want of kisses at the pause of rain above.
The thunder jeers above us—we are always alone, you and I—the winter laughs in mumbling reply at the absurdity of what we call the summer sky.
Our dreams are gone, and we are always alone to walk among the dawn of places left behind, asleep in the light we cannot find.
We are always alone, you and I.
