Farewell my fictional love

It feels like a cut in me, a gash
Every time I think of you
Like being given a snapping lash
For every memory, that was a dream come true
I want to forget ever knowing you
It tortures me to see you smile
I know you've already forgotten me, too
My happiest moments, lasted but a while
I know you couldn't care any less
I know you've found better, the best
I know I was just to keep you busy
But was any of it real to you? How about, maybe, me?
I hate myself for allowing this
Another tragedy, another wreck, another love amiss
You crept in close, and so it is
I allowed you to play me the fool in this
Trying again would be bad, I agree
Because now, through your lies, I finally see
I was but a substitute, a way to kill time free
I am worthless, naive, disposable,
me
These memories shall haunt me forever
These 'dreams' have been quite sly
You revealed the truth, they're nightmares
But now its too late, time has gone by.
