Sometimes I wish I could be
just another brutish man
asking for nothing much in life
with a beer in thick hand
As foreign to my emotions
as I’d be to my mind
to scorn at philosophy, history
all deep thought of this kind
I want to be that simple man
but not for the easy ride
I want to be like them
for reasons that cannot hide;
They’re the guys that get the girl
with whom she’ll share her life
they’re the blokes she wants at home
for who she’ll be their wife
Woman befriend the smarter man
but beds with the simple brute
this is an obvious fact
still, I’m sure she’d refute
The bad boy is so dreamy
so interested in his hair
to focus on changing him
she won’t notice his lack of care
It’s the simple act of biology
tough is a protecting mate
still wrapped in in monkey urges
this is our sensible fate
The lover is the brutish thug
the friend; the evolved man
he will only get her mind
the gorilla holds her hand
No passion will be given to me
for I deserve no physical form
sure I can get her conversation
but wont see her at dawn
So please don’t think less of me
for feeling the cold of night
I only want the fullness of life
we all deserve it, right?

How true man
I remember a time I was the "nice guy"
had dozens of girl "friends"
never got laid at all from any of them
it wasnt until i gave up, and just started to
satisfy my own needs when women started taking interest in me...sad but true |

Well I'm sorry that your life experiences have been like this so far but I must tell you that i would love a man who is not an ignorant imbecile concerned with a simple *****. I have yet to meet someone who is passionate about philosophy, history, and the beat generation as much as I can be. You are only fooling yourself.
Maybe you should go after women who have enough common sense to differentiate between the ***** and the suffering artist. We are out there you know.
You can only blame yourself. I suggest you open your eyes and stop consuming your energy with torture over someone who does not feel passionate about your interests in the way that you do. Find someone who does and for God sakes stop making it look like all of us women are into the scum of the earth. Please, that ship has sailed.

perfectly understandable of course. i went through a phase like this. 'why do women have to be so shallow?' ''are there are decent girls out there?'. problem being, it's all rubbish. shallow people are naturally attracted to each other, and shallow women are worth bothering with anyway. if what you want is love, not just intercourse, the refined, intelligent women is the answer to your angst. she won't jump into your bed because she's better than that, but she will live in your soul and understand you. feeling bitter and lambasting women may feel great, but it gets you nowhere. however, the poem itself was technically quite good, so you can take some solace from your talent.

:-) How I knew this would stir stuff! this isn't about anyone woman - it's more a reflection of my love life from my teens to now. I've know girls from many different walks of life. They tend to find me interesting, funny and attractive.. but give it 6 months, they lose interest as me as a partner and look at me like a friend.. It's a strange situation and one I've yet to understand the progress of - I personally try to continue the romance, but eventually I seem to do nothing special for them anymore. And lastly, if your reading this thinking I'm simply after a lay.. Reread it; I'm certainly NOT that type of guy. |

Phil - I don't feel bitter on women... As previously stated, this is more an exploration in thought and reflection. But otherwise thanks - i enjoyed your comments. I think the best thing in life is having forums to discuss ideas etc.
Beccie - The only girls I have known are very intelligent girls with a great amount of common sense (albeit a fair amount of baggage in retrospect). I don't blame myself. I keep trying and continue to feel the same - hence the poem. Stop consuming my energy? I've written only this poem on this bain. And where do I state women are the scum of the earth? If you'd have read my other stuff you would see a lot of respect for females. The ship has sailed? We still live in a very sexist world - both subjecting woman and men to steriotypes. Personally I'm tired of the "mere male" thrown around. I'm very strong on complete equality.
At the end of the day, you and I live in very different places, are different ages and see life from equally different perspectives. As I've stated, this is a reflection, musing on my own life. It could quite possibly the result of this town - I might be living in a place just above a zoo.. Who knows? All can be said - and this is probably the best way to explain the root of the poem - is that I hope beyond hope to one day know the kind of love I know I could offer in return.
Peace :-) |

Do we truly know why relationships fail? I submit, it's because they are entered into for
the wrong reasons. Even our relationship with ourselves. To truly evolve, you must first
seek & find. . . your innate potential. . . your highest thought. . . & the joy you can bring to
being. Many things, tangible, are really illusion, do not be confused. . . live life as if you
love every second of it. . . & someone special will always notice. peace. elle |
