Stopping the Clocks

Sometimes I cannot remember
Who I am
behind the eternity of these eyes.
My body aches
but there's no one
Who can stop all of the clocks.
Time is like a long strip
Containing many hits of acid.
Waiting to build you up or tear you down.
Before, there was magic
and feelings sexual, intoxicating
now there are burn holes, and desperate longing.
I wish for nothing but indifference
the electric shock of a hand on my shoulder
the whisper of winds filled with promise and fate.
I feel instead, like a dead leaf falling
let go, thrown down, somehow forgotten
and remembered when it is far too late.
