Are You There?

Grief

You sit as if nothing’s wrong
Don’t you know what’s going on?
The bottle in your hand;
Your future
The chair you’re in;
Your death bed
Bitterness swims through your system
Your solution to every problem
Helpless I watch
Watch you slowly waste away
Every drink cuts like a knife
Slowly you’re dying
For you, the light is near
For everyone else darkness appears
Unsatisfied, like it isn’t enough
You demand more
Starting to slip away, you’re lifeless
Resentful we just watch
But wrapped in glass and paper;
You just sit as if nothing’s wrong
