Twilight

Contributed by Faithfully_a_Wallflower on Monday, 25th May 2009 @ 09:38:12 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

Thriving apathy leads to a sense of perpetual loathing for the turning of the day
But then there are those few moments of glory amidst the twilight that time forgot to take away
I’ve lost faith in the idea that I could relate to a world that so swiftly puts me down
I’ve lost hope of that miracle that will fall from the sky and help me not to drown
Weightlessness is overrated compared to the feeling of drowning slowly
Stuck surrounded by the missteps and vulgar monotony that has come to define me
So often you hear of beauty in every angle of the sunset, but what of the sunrise
It’s those brief fleeting moments when the world is true to itself before completely opening its eyes
There’s magic in a rhyme, as it unlocks the mystery in human emotion
Something of substance—something of quality, deeper than the deepest ocean
It is a slight shimmer of secrets that at one time were meant to go unheard
But they clutter concrete thought until there is an air of abstraction to every word
It’s in the pale neutrality of twilight that we find the clarity to make decisions on our fate
Thriving sympathy sends me on a path to remembering someday, but I’m afraid it’s a million miles late
Light turns to dark as day becomes night, and each change pushes someday a bit farther away
For heaven’s sake the sky is falling down on me, still I can’t find the perfect song to play
A walking conundrum, I stand in disbelief at the wonderful, unapologetic magnificence of twilight
All mixed up and I don’t know what to do with the dichotomy of wrong and right
With the faded sky turned all blue again, an unsettling fever settles over life and misery
Smiles hide in those few escaping moments of every day that reveal the truest side of me

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
