Dyslexia
Sometimes its hard
to tell left from right
maybe I cant read
black letters over white
Maybe I cant answer
your questions right away
but hear me out please
for I have a lot of things to say
The words are perfectly clear in my head
of what I was going to say
But sometimes it doesnt
exactly come out that way
Now although you may see
nothing out of place
maybe its not always so easy to read
the confused look on my face
I work twice as hard
to be on the same level as you
but I find it hard to keep up
for everything to me seems all new
Maybe I prefer images over words
and photos over books
just the impact those make
All because of its looks
Maybe things will get better
by each passing day
but for now, just listen,
to what I have to say

Great writing! I have known a few people who had dyslexia. One of those people was one of the best poets I ever knew. Great poem expressing the struggle through a dyslexic's eyes. |
