I remain song-less between walls.

They are white as I am black,
faceless, distilled,
reveling in the innocence I painted with longing -
I wish I could cover the stains and cracks,
the ugly shell that I endlessly shake
in hopes of hearing the tiniest clatter
of a beautiful stone.

I am infinite beneath your tormented veins for only a moment.

And darling,

your hands do not clutch at me with
the same madness,
your smile is no longer of a terrified child
but a dying god.

your legends have become empty vowels,
but I sing them with my tongueless dust,
burying a thousand suns within
my shadow mouth
to warm you

in a kiss.

in death.

I cannot love you like a man.

Nor as a woman.

But as a mirror.

-- as a fragile child.

This was incredible. By far the best poem I have read in such a long time. You can feel the raw emotion oozing out of every line you have written. It painted such a vivid picture in my mind. My favorite line in the whole poem was the very beginning: "I remain song-less between walls." That just struck me somewhere so deep. I appreciate your sharing this with the world.

-Faithfully
