When I consider you, I consider the centuries of stars uncounted and below you, and I consider how the endlessness of waves crashing over inlet and bay, disguise you, and how in your sleep you breathe an unintended sky at the dawn of a furious storm.
When I dream you, I dream you incomplete, bereft of eyes and mouth, absent form and interlaced with dreams of autumn’s fair cherubic face hiding in the tepidity of faith, or the yet untraveled space of love—and when I dream you, I dream the innocuous, first desire—the taste of what has come.
