I love you

Topic: FathersDayPoems

Yours was the first face that I ever saw
On the very first day of this journey
And even though I'd never met you before
I knew exactly who you were and what you meant to me

Your voice calmed me down when I cried
I loved being there in your arms while you sang me a song
And I knew no matter what you'd always be on my side.
Even if it was what I did that was wrong

You took me to places that I've never been
Took me to see your friends and family
You've shown me things I've never seen
Taught me how to make a cuppa tea

You are in all the pictures holding my hand
And with the other hand you're carrying my shoes
On the rides, in the sea and on the sand
Making memories that I will never lose

Through the years you've always been there
Sorting out the problems I had
Making sure that I know you always will care
And try not to let me be sad

Now its been a whole 19 years
Plus 3 weeks and 5 days also
There have been quite a few tears
But you, I will never outgrow

Because forever is forever
Even still, it wont be long enough
Me and you have been together
Through the good times and the tough

So...

On this day I would like to say
This next bit is 100% true
Happy fathers day
Dad, I love you

I always have and I always will.
