The Secret of the Game

Contributed by Elipsis on Wednesday, 20th May 2009 @ 09:35:54 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

The pain she has caused me I cannot clarify
The things she did no-one can ever justify
For almost a year my soul was torn apart
Thereafter, I fought, without a heart

My self-esteem and outlook on life were taken
However could I have been this mistaken?!
It started on insults on what has formed the woman I am
Then the beating that caused my eyes to shed tears to fill a dam

No tears for the pain with which my body was struck
No… rather tears of realisation – just my luck!
Hours went by as I saw my being fall apart
With every move she made, my eyes would dart

Empty promises of love, protection and hope
Hanged along with my soul on a piece of rope
She took all I could possibly give without remorse
I broke down and cried, until my cheeks were coarse

It took a while for the indescribable pain to subside
Enough time for me to realise how she had lied
Enough to find that I did not deserve that I was fed
And to move on and get her words out of my head

Only once I found love from an angel some time after
I discovered her intentions in her ruthless laughter
She never wanted me, broke me and kept me as a game
The secret would be safe – and I would carry the blame!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
